From time to time, I like to include technical posts here. I like technical material and it can be a real asset to anyone trying to solve the problem that I just solved.
Yesterday, I spend several hours trying to get Contact Form 7, a Wordpress Plugin, working on my laptop.
On my laptop? "Can't do that," you likely saying.
You see, I've got it set up so it thinks it's a server. This by running Microsoft WebMatrix. Now, don't get the wrong idea, WebMatrix is a fine product. It's super for creating, debugging, and seeing what PHP Web sites look like. It's also fine for running a Wordpress blog on your PC. Except, well (and yes this is embarrassing) apparently not a fully functional blog. Hence the couple hours of fruitless work.
So, my laptop and I went round and round. It didn't even mind the names I called it. Some Google research later, I found that the server matters. Not everything works everywhere, don't you know?
So, I installed the Contact Form 7 on my Web site's Wordpress blog and it ran fine. Took all of two minutes. The real shame here is that I originally was going to do that, but decided to use the lapaop.
Now, I've got Contact Form 7, Email Before Download, and Wordpress Download Monitor working. All working, and a beautiful thing they are.
for this I must thank, Eric Lopkin, The Modern Observer. Eric told me that Wordpress has this capability, and for than I thnk him. Eric is one of the best men I've met in this business and I value his friendship, vast technical expertise, and business savvy a great deal.
