Marketing with E-mail has one excellent advantage almost all, over 90%, or your responses will come in the first 48 hours. It is a terrific way to promote sales. One of the best E-mail marketing efforts we've seen is by Buy.com Deals. Their Web site, http://www.buy.com is a showcase of how to do everything right. Take a look and you will find:
- their toll free telephone number with the words, CALL US ANY TIME:
- a search engine
- colorful picture ads that change as you watch
- to sign up for their E-mail advertising you simply click on "SIGN UP FOR BEST DEALS ALERT!" This is also at the top of the page.
- a wide array of products, they sell jewelry, cell phones, clothing, computers, electronics, household goods, fine writing pens (We just bought a gorgeous Parker ball point pen for seven dollars, including shipping.), and lots more.
Here are some good words on writing your E-mail marketing from our book, Web Content Rx.
- Make you Web site a destination.
- To gain trust. When buying online, people need to be confident that you have the goods, will ship in a timely manner, and can be trusted to provide merchandise in the condition advertised.
- Availability of customer service. Will the phone be answered by someone in the same country as the caller? Or is it answered by someone half the world away who barely speaks English? When our Dell computer needed help we were connected to fantastic customer service in the United States.
- Methods of payment. Credit cards are ubiquitous, of course. Also consider accepting PayPal. When we sold an article to a newsletter in London, England, payment was made via PayPal. The money was transferred internationally without a problem.
- Write in a friendly, open, straight forward manner and as though the reader has already bought the item. Be careful, and very sure, that your product description is in common language using everyday words. the only real exception to this is describing very technical products. In that case don't hold back on the technical details because your customer can easily understands it and demands it before making a decision to purchase. Showing that you are highly technical can cause someone to buy from you even though your price may be greater than the competition because product expertise is a real selling asset.
