There is an old saying, "If you don't know where you're going any road will get you there." Before you go any farther, stop, take a minute to ask and answer just what you want from social networking.
Please don't say you just want to learn more about it. Why do you want to learn more about it? What is your end game? What is the aim of your new found knowledge?
Why am I asking? Social networking will not work for you if you don't know what you want from it. It can't. Goals mean everything. Once you have them, you can plot a course, choose your tools, and get started. Until then, you're wasting your time. Want proof? A business acquaintance told me he was Tweeting, using Twitter, but no one was reading his Tweets. Why? The Tweets do not contribute to anyone's success. Social networking is all about working together. It is not about you working alone. You reach your goals by helping other people reach theirs. You succeed by contributing to the success of others.
So, let's work together to accomplish your goals. How? Comment on this post with your social networking goals, needs, or wants. Let other people suggest ways for you to get there.
Here's what we want; our public speaking career to thrive because we love talking to people about using social networking as a tool to solve their problems.
You see, when attaining my goal supports your needs, then working together is mutually beneficial. That, my friend, is truly successful social networking because everyone wins. So, how can we help? Tell us, because if we don't know what you want, we can't help you attain it.
A wise man said about social networking, "If you don't pay attention to the needs of you audience, they won't pay attention to you." What are your needs? Tell us, we'll pay attention.
