Many people don't know what social networking is, don't know how to use it, or just don't realize the power that it represents. Unfortunately that holds true for some business coaches as well. I've seen this first hand when a highly paid, intelligent coach told me to my face that social networking was not all that hot. Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Here are a few things social networking can do to increase your business and make it more successful.
- Social networking is quick and easy to set up. You can have a Facebook page up in an hour or two. A Twitter account in less than that. A blog can be up an running in less than an hour.
- Social networking is cheap. There is nothing on the planet more cost effective than social networking. You can potentially reach millions of people for zero out-of-pocket dollars. We know that hiring people costs money and that there is a dollar value attached to your time. When we say this is cheap we specifically refer to the cost of your online activities. When you think of using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, a blog, and other social networking sites free of charge, yes social networking is cheap.
- Social networking is a two way street. Want to know what your customers want? Want to do market research? In fact, you can receive feedback quickly. See our post on TweetDeck.
- All of this online activity does you a lot of good with search engines. Further, case studies show that 90% of all people start their purchasing activity with a search engine. So, if you are selling anything, social networking can only help you.
The days are gone when anyone can say that social is anything but a hard as nails marketing tool. Perhaps it is the preeminent marketing tool of all time.
