You are going to need information from your audience at to what content they want in your social networking campaign. While you need information from your audience, they have no reason to give it to you, right?
Wrong. You're going to give them a reason. A very lucrative reason by applying, "What's In It For Me?" to their needs. Answer that question, and you're golden. Ignore it, and you're toast.
All you've got to do is ask, but you're going to ask smart by giving something in return. You will offer a premium. A free report, discount coupon, entrance in a contest, a gift, or something else of unquestioned value in exchange for the time spent responding to your query.
Don't forget this simple truth: "If you don't pay attention to the needs of your audience, they won't pay attention to you." Those 17 words spell success if you heed them; failure if you don't.
What you are doing is market research, and you should not expect to gain it for free. This information is critically important and must be pertinent, timely, and accurate.
While your at it, ask about how your audience wants to see your content. Do they like video, a blog, a micro-blog like Twitter, or what? You will need to know this before you create your online accounts later.
We're getting there. Are you making notes? Action is required.
