We're a member of a small business group on LinkedIn and one of the members was in real trouble about keeping his business and asked for help. We were on of those who put in a few suggestions.
When a business is in trouble it is frustrating and difficult to see your way out because of the pressing problems of wages, bills, and the activities surrounding the job.
In general:
- Look for ways, places and companies to partner with.
- If your products are kitchen related look for home centers and kitchen redecorating contractors and make them aware of your goods.
- Teach a class or do some public speaking
- Send a press release and call local papers to see about having a story done on you.
- If you've already done this than open up your market area. Open a eBay store or sell your goods on your Web site to capture a worldwide market.
- Whatever you do , don't do nothing. Action is required.
- Call your local Chamber of Commerce and make an appointment to meet with a Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) councillor. These people know business, cost you nothing, and are very sharp, experienced, and knowledgable.
- If you are not already on LinkedIn, join.
Good luck.
