The vast amount of information is more than anyone can read, or pay attention to. So, what to do?
Pick what it is you want to know and need to know, then focus on that alone. when you follow a link that leaves your main subject, just return to where you were. The idea is to do your research topic. Then do your next topic.
Make a research tracking document. Use a spreadsheet or a word processor. Either will do nicely. Record Web site URLs, down load Web pages.
Do not allow yourself to become overwhelmed. This happens to business people in their quest to get up-to-speed on social networking. Take your time. Go from question, to research, to answer, to question ....
Do this for a couple hours each week and soon you will be knowledgeable. Choose your questions carefully and answer them to your satisfaction.
